I can't tell you how excited I am to see this project nearing completion! I've been working on making restaurant ware for Tart, a new coffee shop and pâtisserie since the fall. Seeing the dishes all in the kitchen, ready to go, made my heart just sing!
I love seeing everything stacked up and ready to go- and I love the vintage snack trays with the modern and minimalist pottery we designed. It's very different from my usual work, but I'm pleased with how it works in this space.
And all those cups! I made hundreds of cups!
Gary and I just got back from their lunchtime soft opening. Everything was SO GOOD, so fresh, so french! The space is really lovely- bright and airy and full of contemporary art and vintage or repurposed furnishings:
We had superb salads- a hangar steak salad with a ranch-meets-horseradish dressing, and a superb salade nicoise for me. The pastries are divine (we had a french cherry tart and pain au chocolat, both delicious and fresh), served with cafe las flores coffee, a Nicaraguan company with marketing headquarters in Memphis. I think that even if I didn't have ties to Tart, it would be on my short list of restaurants to take out of town guests - it is comfortable and delicious!
