modern ironstone serving trays

from 16.00

Ironstone pieces have long been one of my true loves for serving festive or family meals. I bought my first set of Johnson Brothers Regency white teacups and saucers as a teenager, and I still scour thrift, antique, and junk markets looking for pieces to add to my cupboards. I’m delighted to have finally produced my own take on this classic.

I use fine white stoneware and porcelain clays and used both vintage serving pieces and contemporary molds to form these dishes out of slabs of clay. Using fingers, we (because Ramie, my assistant, is the finger-ruffle master) scallop the slab before it goes into (or over) its mold. Each piece is smoothed by hand and finished in glossy food safe white glaze.

All of my work is meant to be used. It is microwave safe (one minute at a time, please), top-rack dishwasher safe, and oven safe (take care under broil! Ceramic pieces aren’t fond of the broiler).

Need a nesting set? Feel free to inquire about custom sizing.

These pieces are listed by size- except for height, the size listed is almost exactly the dimensions of the piece.
